Comedian and writer Amber Ruffin found herself in the spotlight after being disinvited from headlining the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. But instead of letting it get her down, she took it all in stride. During a recent episode of “Have I Got News for You,” the Saturday news and comedy show on CNN, Ruffin and her cohosts shared some laughs about the situation in their “Offend-O Meter” segment. Hosted by Roy Wood Jr., the show poked fun at the fact that Ruffin was uninvited from the event after announcing her plans to poke fun at the current administration.

When asked about her reaction to losing the gig, Ruffin replied with humor, saying, “I lost the gig because I was out here talkin’ shit.” She continued to explain that she was planning on pushing boundaries and making fun of both Democrats and Republicans. However, recent events made her realize that maintaining equal criticism for both sides wouldn’t align with her values.

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner is known for its tradition of having comedians roast politicians and joke about current events. Past hosts have included iconic names like Richard Pryor, Conan O’Brien, and Wanda Sykes. However, this year, the association decided to cancel the comedic performance for the April dinner, focusing instead on honoring the hard work of journalists.

So, while Ruffin may have lost the opportunity to headline the event, she continues to bring laughs and insightful commentary to audiences through her work. And who knows, maybe another opportunity will come her way to share her unique comedic perspective on the political landscape.
