Supporting Those Who Shared Phillies News with Their Dads on Apple TV
To anyone who had to break the news to their dad that the Phillies were on Apple TV, my heart goes out to you. It’s a tough conversation to have, as evidenced by the video making the rounds on social media. You can see the struggle in his eyes, the resignation in his voice. Apple TV+ has claimed another victim. This dad, who has seen it all, from rough baseball seasons to economic downturns, has finally met his match.
But there’s a silver lining – he only has to go through this once more this year. Although, there is that ROKU game in August to navigate, so good luck with that. Introducing all these new streaming platforms to the older generation is no easy task. They grew up in a simpler time, where you just turned a knob on a giant machine to watch TV. Now, with the plethora of options available, it can be overwhelming.
I have a solution though. Take a page from the NFL’s playbook and make the games available locally as well. That way, families can watch the game together without the stress of last-minute phone calls and password mishaps. The streaming giants need to think about the family dynamics here. Let’s make it easier for everyone, including the dads who just want to watch their favorite team play without jumping through hoops. Let’s make it happen, MLB, for the sake of all the dads out there who just want to enjoy the game hassle-free.
