Charli XCX Stars in ‘Overcompensating’ Teaser for Prime Video

Charli XCX’s hit song “Boom Clap” from the 2014 album Sucker and The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack has over 483 million streams on Spotify, making it her most-played song as a lead artist. Interestingly, Charli hasn’t performed this song live since 2023, sparking curiosity about its future.

In a teaser for the upcoming Prime Video series Overcompensating, Charli XCX expresses frustration with the idea of performing “Boom Clap” at a college. She questions, “Do you think I want to play ‘Boom Clap’ in a college? Are you joking?” It seems like the song may be put to rest following this appearance.

Charli also serves as an executive music producer for Overcompensating, a comedy series created by Benito Skinner. The show follows Benny, a former football player who befriends Carmen, a high school outsider striving to fit in at any cost. Together, guided by Benny’s sister and her boyfriend, they navigate relationships, flavored vodka, and fake IDs.

Overcompensating is described as a deeply funny and personal exploration of the ways in which we all overcompensate on the journey to self-discovery. The series, featuring stars like Connie Britton and Kyle MacLachlan, premieres on Prime Video on May 15.
