Amazon Testing AI-Dubbing for Movies and Series – Guide

Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform is stepping up its game by introducing AI-powered dubbing for some movies and TV series to cater to a global audience. The company recently shared its plans to leverage artificial intelligence to enhance the viewing experience for its users.

In a move to maintain quality and authenticity, Amazon will combine the expertise of localization professionals with AI technology for the dubbing process. This new AI-dubbing feature will be implemented in titles that currently do not have it, ensuring a seamless viewing experience for viewers worldwide.

As of now, the platform is piloting AI-aided dubbing with a selection of 12 titles that will be available in English and Latin American Spanish. Some of the featured titles include the Spanish animated movie “El Cid: La Leyenda,” the Argentinian movie “Mi Mamá Lora,” and the American indie movie “Long Lost.”

This is not the first time Amazon Prime Video has tapped into AI technology to enhance user experience. In 2024, the platform introduced AI-generated recaps that summarize key plot points of episodes or entire seasons for some original series. Additionally, Amazon offers a Dialogue Boost feature that allows users to adjust the volume of dialogues in relation to background music and uses AI to provide personalized title recommendations to viewers.

While Amazon Prime Video is making strides in AI-powered dubbing, it is worth noting that YouTube also offers an auto-dubbing function, which was recently expanded to reach a wider audience of content creators. This trend of utilizing AI technology in content streaming continues to shape the future of entertainment viewing experiences.
