Bono Surrender Stories Documentary Event Coming to Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is bringing viewers a groundbreaking documentary event called Bono: Stories of Surrender. This film is a deep dive into Bono’s one-man show of the same name, set to premiere globally on Friday, May 30, 2025. The documentary is based on Bono’s well-received memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story and its connected book/theatre tour.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Andrew Dominik (known for The Assassination of Jesse James, Blonde), the film promises to be a vivid reimagination of Bono’s acclaimed one-man stage show, “Stories of Surrender: An Evening of Words, Music and Some Mischief.” It will provide a glimpse into Bono’s remarkable life, showcasing personal stories about his roles as a son, father, husband, activist, and rockstar, shedding light on the family, friends, and faith that have been pillars in his journey.

Fans can look forward to exclusive footage from Bono’s Beacon Theatre shows, where he performs iconic U2 songs that have been instrumental in shaping his life and legacy. Scheduled to debut on Apple Vision Pro on May 30, 2025, Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive) is the first feature-length film available in Apple Immersive Video. This cutting-edge media format, recorded in 8K with Spatial Audio, will offer viewers a 180-degree video experience, placing them right on stage with Bono as he shares his story.

Behind the scenes, RadicalMedia’s Jon Kamen and Dave Sirulnick, along with Plan B Entertainment’s Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner, are spearheading the production. Bono serves as an executive producer, joined by Jennifer Pitcher and Kelly McNamara. To complement the documentary’s release, an updated paperback edition of Bono’s memoir, Bono: Stories of Surrender, will also hit shelves, featuring a film tie-in book cover and a new introduction by the author.

So mark your calendars for May 30, 2025, when viewers will get an intimate and immersive look into the life and artistry of one of music’s most iconic figures, Bono.
