Prime Video Comedy Series “The Sticky” Cancelled: No Season Two

The Sticky, the heist comedy series from Prime Video, has been canceled after just one season. The show, which premiered two months ago and featured Margo Martindale, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Guillaume Cyr, won’t be returning for a second season. Even with a solid 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the show failed to attract a wide enough audience for Prime Video to give it another shot.

Created by Brian Donovan and Ed Herro, The Sticky centered around a real-life heist that happened in 2012 when a maple syrup farmer’s business was under threat. Even though it only had six episodes, the series managed to rope in Jamie Lee Curtis for a guest appearance, adding star power to the mix.

According to industry insiders, comedies like The Sticky often need more time to find their footing on streaming platforms, and unfortunately, the genre tends to face a higher cancellation rate than dramas, especially after just one season. This might be why streaming services are producing fewer half-hour comedies these days.
