Bookie Season 3 Cancelled: Max Issues Statement
Max has made the tough decision to cancel the comedy series Bookie after two seasons, according to Variety. Created by Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay, the show first hit the screens on Max in November 2023, with its second season following in December 2024. Starring Sebastian Maniscalco as Danny Colavito, a seasoned bookie navigating the legalize sports gambling scene in Los Angeles, the show brought plenty of laughs to viewers.
Although Max hasn’t given specific reasons for pulling the plug on the show, a spokesperson for the platform did confirm the decision. As Warner Bros. Discovery continues to adjust its content strategy, there’s been quite a bit of buzz about potential shifts in programming.
Among the talented ensemble cast were actors like Omar Dorsey, Andrea Anders, Vanessa Ferlito, Jorge Garcia, Maxim Swinton, Rob Corddry, and Selina Kaye, along with Arnetia Walker, Toby Huss, and Dale Dickey in supporting roles. Guest stars like Charlie Sheen, Ray Romano, Laraine Newman, and Zach Braff also made memorable appearances.
Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television were behind the production of Bookie, with Lorre, Bakay, Maniscalco, Andy Tennant, and Judi Marmel serving as executive producers. Despite the cancellation, the show left a mark with 16 episodes over its two seasons.
Sebastian Maniscalco, known for his stand-up comedy, shared his experience with acting, mentioning how it validated his humor and allowed him to learn from his fellow actors. While the third season may not be happening, the show’s legacy lives on for fans to enjoy the two seasons that did air.
