FanDuel Sports Network Now Available on Prime Video
FanDuel Sports Network, previously known as Bally Sports, is now available on Amazon Prime Video, marking a significant milestone in distribution. This partnership is especially notable given Amazon Prime Video’s large subscriber base and active user engagement.
The announcement of this collaboration was made last November but details about timing and specifics were unclear due to Main Street Sports Group, the parent company of the RSN networks, navigating bankruptcy proceedings. The shift towards direct-to-consumer subscriptions for RSNs comes as cable and satellite providers are changing how they offer these channels, making it more vital for local sports channels to explore new avenues for distribution.
FanDuel’s integration with Amazon Prime Video provides a familiar platform for users to access this content, potentially widening the reach of the service to new subscribers. In states covered by the 16 RSN channels, fans can subscribe for $19.99 per month to access live, local sports coverage, which could offer more value for sports enthusiasts compared to other streaming services.
Main Street Sports Group currently holds local rights for 29 NBA, NHL, and MLB teams, solidifying its presence in the local sports media landscape. This agreement with Prime Video is non-exclusive, meaning fans have multiple options to access FanDuel Sports Network content. The hope is to see more partnerships in the future that provide fans with diverse ways to follow their favorite teams.
