Gender-Swapped TV Show Pilot ‘Holes’ Ordered for Disney+
Disney+ is bringing a gender-swapped version of the beloved book “Holes” to life with a new TV series. This exciting news comes over two decades after the original film adaptation hit the screens. Starring Shia LaBeouf as Stanley Yelnats, the young boy wrongly sent to Camp Green Lake, the 2003 movie captured hearts around the world. Now, the official logline for the upcoming show teases an intriguing plot, “In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose.”
The show will be written and executive produced by Alina Mankin and led by showrunner Liz Phang, with additional executive production by Drew Goddard through Goddard Textiles and Sarah Esberg. Drew Goddard shared a heartwarming story about his mom, a lifelong schoolteacher, who introduced him to the book years ago. He expressed his excitement about bringing this story full circle for her and her sixth-grade class.
