Segun Arinze Considers Everyone a Suspect in “Katangari Goes To Town” Premiere

Natives Filmworks and Michelangelo Productions are teaming up to bring you “Katangari Goes To Town,” a thrilling movie set to premiere on Prime Video on January 4, 2025.

Directed by Reuben Reng and featuring a talented cast of Nollywood veterans and emerging stars, this film delves into the intricate world of Nigerian family relationships, focusing on the theme of inheritance. The plot, penned by Emil Garuba, revolves around Katangiri (played by Segun Arinze), a retired police inspector turned vigilante who embarks on a mission to solve his cousin’s mysterious murder in Abuja.

Katangiri’s journey unravels a complex tapestry of family secrets, betrayals, and suspense, all while showcasing his quick wit, trusty rifle, and unique charm. Packed with excitement, humor, and unexpected turns, the movie promises to keep viewers gripped and guessing throughout.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Abuja and the serene landscapes of Jos, “Katangari Goes To Town” boasts a stellar lineup, including Segun Arinze, Ireti Doyle, Munachi Abii, Sani Mu’azu, Bethel ‘Senator Comedian’ Njoku, Gbubemi Ejeye, and many more. This film marks the eighth installment in the First Features Project series, initiated in 2021.

The First Features Project has nurtured and empowered a dozen young filmmakers, equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to direct seven compelling, locally inspired stories for both theaters and streaming services. Previous works from this project, such as “Cake,” “Love and Life,” “It Blooms in June,” “A Father’s Love,” “Kill Boro,” “At Ease,” and “A Danfo Christmas,” have paved the way for “Katangari Goes To Town” by Reuben Reng, setting the tone for the 2025 lineup of First Feature films.

Beyond the cinematic experience, the First Features Project has made a significant impact on the Nigerian film industry. By fostering emerging talent, offering mentorship, and providing a platform for storytellers to shine, this initiative is shaping the future of Nollywood’s next generation of filmmakers.
