Netflix Christmas Day games set new streaming records – Ravens Wire
The Christmas Day NFL games this year really brought in the viewers! According to preliminary Nielsen numbers, these games broke all-time streaming records. And get this, once the international viewership numbers roll in, the records will be even higher.
Axios shared that the league is expecting both games to have averaged around a whopping 30 million viewers each. That’s pretty impressive! The second Christmas Day game, where the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Houston Texans 31-2 (fun fact: only the third NFL game to end with this score), drew an average minute audience of 24.3 million.
Viewership in the U.S. peaked during Beyoncé’s halftime show, bringing in 27 million viewers. The Ravens’ big win in Houston outshined the earlier game on Christmas Day, which saw the Pittsburgh Steelers fall 29-10 to the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. This game attracted an average of 24.1 million viewers.
What’s even more impressive is that the Ravens’ victory set a new record for the most-watched Christmas Day game among the 18-34 age group. A record 5.1 million U.S. viewers from this demographic tuned in, breaking all-time highs. Keep in mind that these records are based on Nielsen numbers, which have been tracking since 2001.
