How Tallahassee couple honors daughter’s memory with a special game

that their baby had hydrocephalus, water on the brain. Despite the challenges they were facing, Hunter and Shelby remained hopeful. Emersyn Mae Peacock was born on January 16th, 2023. The initial plan was to address the hydrocephalus with a shunt, but unfortunately, Emersyn’s condition took a sudden turn.

“She came out, they rushed her to a side table to work on her, and she was crying,” Hunter shared. “They brought her to me for probably ten seconds,” Shelby added. “I got to hold her, she was moving, she was crying. I got to feel her and actually hold her while she was alive.” Tragically, Emersyn soon entered a vegetative state and passed away just four days after her birth.

As Hunter and Shelby navigate the grief of losing their daughter, they are finding solace in keeping Emersyn’s memory alive. They have turned to the game that initially brought them together as a way to honor and remember their daughter. Through sharing Emersyn’s journey, they hope to help others who may be going through similar experiences.

Even though they still have no answers as to why Emersyn passed away so suddenly, both Hunter and Shelby remain hopeful for the future. They shared that the condition is not genetic, and they are optimistic about the possibility of welcoming a rainbow baby into their lives.

For now, their focus remains on keeping Emersyn’s memory alive through love and faith. They continue to cherish the community support they have received and are grateful for the opportunity to share Emersyn’s story with others. Through their journey of grief and healing, Hunter and Shelby are determined to ensure that Emersyn will never be forgotten.
