Red Guardian’s Impact on Winter Soldier: Comic Universe Review

Season 3, Episode 3 of What If…? takes us on a thrilling journey where the Red Guardian interrupts the Winter Soldier’s mission to eliminate Howard Stark. Let’s dive into the highlights and low points of this action-packed episode.

Starting with what I liked, the Red Guardian casually playing Tetris on a GameBoy in an airport was a perfect way to set the tone for the time period. Bill suiting up with his own Ant-Man suit was unexpected and added a fun twist to the storyline. The dynamic action scenes, like Alexei taking down giant Bill with a well-aimed shield throw, were truly impressive.

However, not everything hit the mark for me. While the fight between Red Guardian and the Winter Soldier was entertaining, the humor felt a bit out of place and took away from the intensity of the scene.

One of my favorite moments was the cinematic shot of Bucky and Alexei teaming up to defeat Bill in giant form. The choreography of this scene was reminiscent of a grand finale, making it a standout moment in the episode.

In terms of standout characters, I have to give credit to Bucky for his compelling portrayal. His partnership with Alexei provided an interesting dynamic that kept me engaged throughout the episode.

Overall, this episode was a strong entry in the season, with only a few minor missteps along the way. The alternate reality where Howard Stark survives added a fresh twist to the Marvel universe, making it a compelling watch. I’d rate this episode 8.2/10 for its engaging storyline and well-executed action sequences.
