Cincinnati Bengals Defeat Cleveland Browns 24-6 to Stay in Playoff Contention
The Cincinnati Bengals secured a crucial victory against the Cleveland Browns, keeping their playoff hopes alive with a 24-6 win at Paycor Stadium. Going into the game, the Bengals knew it was do or die, and they rose to the occasion with a strong performance.
The action started with a fumble recovery by Bengals safety Vonn Bell, leading to a 99-yard drive that ended in a touchdown catch by Tee Higgins. Despite a missed field goal attempt by Cincinnati kicker Cade York, the Bengals continued to dominate with another touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to Andrei Iosivas.
Cincinnati’s defense, led by standout players like Trey Hendrickson and Mike Hilton, put pressure on Cleveland’s QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson throughout the first half. The Bengals even ended the half with a record-setting 59-yard field goal from York.
In the second half, the Browns managed to score their first touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Cincinnati’s strong play. Despite an injury scare for Higgins, who eventually returned to the game, the Bengals maintained control. Interceptions by Jordan Battle and Geno Stone, along with a strip-sack by Isaiah McGuire, kept the Browns at bay.
Burrow sealed the win with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, making it head coach Zac Taylor’s first time sweeping the Browns. The victory marked the Bengals’ third consecutive win, with Taylor emphasizing that this level of performance is the team’s expectation.
Looking ahead, the Bengals will face the Denver Broncos at Paycor Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 28, with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. Stay tuned for more exciting Bengals news and updates.
