The Peacock at Owler Bar recently reopened its doors in time for the festive season. This historic Grade II listed country pub, located near Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District, has undergone a £350,000 restoration by Longbow Venues. The restoration seamlessly blends rich history, warm hospitality, and modern comforts, making it a must-visit spot this Christmas.

Originally built in the early 1800s by the Duke of Rutland, The Peacock has served as a welcoming beacon for weary travelers for centuries. The recent refurbishment, led by Concorde BGW Group, has preserved the inn’s historic charm while adding contemporary touches. From solid oak floors to leaded windows and timber beams, original features have been lovingly restored. Additionally, a new outdoor seating area provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Peak District moorlands.

Perfect for walkers, cyclists, locals, and visitors looking for an authentic Peak District experience, The Peacock can accommodate up to 130 diners. The pub’s inviting atmosphere and exceptional cuisine make it an ideal destination for anyone seeking a cozy retreat.

The menu at The Peacock is crafted by Executive Chef Adrian Gagea, who trained with Raymond Blanc. The focus is on seasonal ingredients from local farms, heritage brewers, and artisan producers. With a mix of pub classics and global influences, the menu caters to a variety of tastes and dietary needs. Most dishes can be made gluten-free, and there are numerous vegetarian and vegan options available.

For the festive season, The Peacock offers a Festive Afternoon Tea for £22 per person, featuring treats like turkey with pork stuffing sandwiches and mini winter berry pavlovas. Guests can upgrade to include a glass of festive fizz for £26.50. There is also a vegetarian festive afternoon tea menu available to ensure everyone can enjoy a touch of seasonal magic.

To celebrate the reopening, The Peacock is hosting a competition with prizes including a Sunday lunch dining experience for six and a Peak District hamper. Full details are available on The Peacock’s website.

Open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, The Peacock provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for all occasions. It is a place where guests can relax, savor exceptional food, and take in the beauty of the Peak District.
