Venice Kicker, FSU Signee Brunno Reus Sets New Florida FHSAA Scoring Record
In an exciting victory over Lake Mary in the Class 7A State Final, Venice closed out their impressive 2024 season with a commanding 52-19 win. Throughout the season, the team has shown strength across all positions, but one player has truly stood out among the rest.
Kicker Brunno Reus made a huge impact this season by setting a new single-season scoring record in Florida with 119 total points from field goals and PATs. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 110 points held by St. John’s Cole Leinenger in 2011. Nationally, Reus’ season ranks tied-22nd for most points in a season by a kicker in the MaxPreps era. He successfully made 91 PATs and nine field goals, including a clutch 21-yard game-winner against Cocoa and a 42-yarder that forced overtime in a memorable win over Miami Northwestern.
Coach John Peacock has been quick to acknowledge Reus’ importance to the team all season long. He has praised Reus for his consistency and dependability, especially during high-pressure situations like two-minute drills. Peacock is confident that as long as Venice can get the ball around the 35-yard line, Reus will come through with points on the board.
After his outstanding season, Reus chose to sign with Florida State during the early signing period, despite originally being committed to USF. His decision to join the Seminoles came shortly after receiving an offer from the university, highlighting his talent and potential at the collegiate level.
