Warwick Davis Discusses Disney+ ‘Willow’ Show Cancellation
Warwick Davis recently opened up about the canceled Disney+ show “Willow.” The show, which premiered in November 2022, got the ax just two months after its first season concluded. Drawing inspiration from the 1988 movie of the same name by Lucasfilm, the eight-episode season received a blend of reviews. Acting as a sequel to the original film helmed by Ron Howard, the series followed a young farmer on a perilous mission to fulfill a prophecy and protect an infant from an evil sorceress.
Over a year after its removal from Disney+, Warwick Davis expressed his disappointment over the show’s cancellation with a candid post on social media. Sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the production, he referred to the decision as “a travesty.” For fans of “Willow,” the inability to continue following the story is undoubtedly a letdown.
This isn’t the first time Disney pulled the plug on a series after just one season—earlier in the year, they did the same with “The Acolyte,” a Star Wars show on Disney+. Following its eight-episode run, it met a similar fate on July 16, 2024.
Considering the fan following and nostalgia surrounding the “Willow” franchise, many are left wondering if it will ever make a comeback.
