Peacock Streaming for Illini Games: A Missed Pass for Fans
Not much of a sports fan, but loyal to Illini football and basketball? You’re not alone! Illini loyalty runs deep, with generations of fans cheering on the orange and blue. But here’s the kicker – recent moves by the athletic department have left fans feeling sidelined.
Instead of catching games on TV, fans are being forced into the Peacock streaming-only broadcasts. Sure, it sounds cool, but for many, it’s been a real fumble. Monthly fees, complicated setups, and missed plays – not exactly the game plan many fans had in mind.
Take Bob Townsend from Monticello, for example. With a family steeped in Illini traditions, he, too, was ready for game day. But when Peacock couldn’t connect to his TV, he was left feeling like he was watching the game on an old-school iPad. Not exactly the home-field advantage he’s used to.
Remember the promises of never missing a game with the Big Ten Network? Seems like a lifetime ago. What’s next for loyal fans, especially seniors like Bob?
