Disney+ Producer Wins Big at Korea Content Awards

Jang Kyung-ik, CEO of Studio Dragon, was recently awarded the culture merit medal at the Korea Content Awards for his contribution to the content industry. Known for producing innovative and engaging storytelling, including the popular Disney+ series “Moving,” Jang has made a significant impact on the industry.

The Korea Content Awards, now in its 16th year, recognizes individuals and content that have played a key role in shaping the nation’s content industry. Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency, the event honors those who have made outstanding contributions to various sectors of the industry.

This year, 23 individuals were honored across three categories, and 15 works in animation, character, and manhwa categories also received awards. Jang’s work in producing hit dramas like “Descendants of the Sun,” “Doctor Cha,” and “Moving” has been pivotal in promoting Korean content globally and showcasing the excellence of K-content to the world.

The Disney+ series “Moving,” based on the webtoon by Kang Full, has not only garnered immense popularity in Korea but has also made waves on the global stage. With a storyline centered around children with hidden superpowers and their parents harboring secrets, the series has captivated audiences worldwide.

In addition to Jang Kyung-ik, other industry professionals were recognized at the award ceremony, including Bae Ki-sik, CEO of RIDI, Nexon Games CEO Park Yong-hyun, and various producers and directors in the content industry. The event highlighted the diverse talents and contributions of individuals and works that have shaped the content landscape.

The recognition of individuals like Jang Kyung-ik and the celebration of works like “Moving” and other award-winning content underscore the growing influence of Korean entertainment on the global stage. As K-content continues to gain popularity and trust worldwide, the content industry is poised to drive economic growth and shape the future of the country’s cultural landscape.
