St. Clair entrepreneur competing for $20K on Prime Video’s ‘Buy It Now’
Dan Cass, also known as “Inventor Danny,” is set to make his small-screen debut on Prime Video’s exciting show “Buy It Now,” hosted by the lively JB Smoove. The St. Clair entrepreneur will showcase his innovative product, the Liddle Speaker, in an upcoming episode airing this Wednesday, with a chance to snag $20,000 and a coveted spot in Amazon’s exclusive Buy It Now store.
“Buy It Now,” which premiered on Oct. 30, offers a platform for budding entrepreneurs to shine. Contestants have just 90 seconds to pitch their products to 100 potential customers, known as “The 100.” If the audience is on board, the contestant then gets to pitch to Amazon executives and celebrity entrepreneurs. The winner of each episode walks away with $20,000 and premium product placement on Amazon.com and the Prime app.
The spark for the Liddle Speaker came during the pandemic when Cass developed a “smart bed shelf” product with innovative audio, video, and wireless charging technologies. A customer’s request to make the speakers removable for the RV industry led to the creation of the award-winning Liddle Speaker, which took home the Best of CES 2022 award.
Building on this success, Cass is planning to unveil the next-generation Liddle Speaker Pro at CES on Jan. 5. This sleek, portable 5W Bluetooth speaker boasts a high-fidelity microphone, seamless connectivity to various devices, an eight-hour battery life, and a patented magnetic design that can attach to MagSafe-compatible phones and metal surfaces. Moreover, adhesive rings allow secure placement on other surfaces.
With a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a background in reverse engineering in the automotive industry, Cass founded D3 Products in St. Clair back in 2016. By 2020, the company was hailed as the “hottest startup” at CES.
Securing a spot on “Buy It Now” was no walk in the park for Cass. He submitted a compelling 90-second pitch, underwent numerous interviews and a background check, and eventually got the golden ticket to appear on season one of the show. Filming took place at Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, California, where Cass got the full Hollywood treatment with makeup, hair, and wardrobe changes before hitting the stage.
The journey of the Liddle Speaker began at a trade show in Atlanta, where Cass managed to sell 1,000 units in just six hours and locked in 83 additional purchase orders.
Excited to see if the Liddle Speaker Pro will win it all? Catch Cass’s episode this Wednesday. In the meantime, the Liddle Speaker Pro is already available on Amazon.com and liddlespeaker.com.
