After Juan Soto signed a massive 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, it was revealed that several other teams had made offers to the star player. Soto, 26, had an impressive season with the New York Yankees last year, setting career highs in hits, home runs, and wins above replacement.

The Yankees, the Mets’ crosstown rivals, were one of the top contenders to sign Soto and reportedly offered him a 16-year, $760 million deal. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays were also vying for Soto’s talents, with the Dodgers offering a contract valued at $600 million.

The Red Sox reportedly put forth a 15-year, $700 million contract with an average annual salary of $46.67 million, according to sources. As for the Blue Jays, details of their offer have not yet been disclosed.

Soto’s stellar performance with the Yankees helped the team reach the World Series for the first time since 2009. Meanwhile, the Mets, despite finishing third in the National League East Division standings, secured a spot in the playoffs as a Wild Card team but were ultimately eliminated by the Dodgers in the NLCS.
