Disney’s animated hit “Moana 2” is still riding high at the box office, securing the top spot for the second weekend in a row with an impressive $52 million in earnings. This brings its total domestic haul to a whopping $300 million, surpassing its predecessor, and its global earnings skyrocket to $600 million.

Notably, “Moana 2” set a new record for post-Thanksgiving weekend gross, dethroning “Frozen II” from the previous year. Originally planned as a series for Disney+, the film has now secured a spot in the top five highest-grossing releases of the year, joining the ranks of other Disney blockbusters like “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

While the weekend saw the release of several new films like “Y2K” and “The Order,” nothing could quite compete with the allure of “Moana 2,” “Wicked,” and “Gladiator II.” “Wicked” claimed the second spot at the box office with $34.9 million, pushing its domestic total to $320.5 million, while “Gladiator II” followed in third place with $12.5 million.

Industry analysts predict a boost in box office revenue, citing these strong holdovers and a promising lineup of upcoming releases like “Kraven the Hunter” and “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.” With an eclectic mix of films in theaters, moviegoers can expect a diverse cinematic experience in the coming weeks.
