Fans of the iconic Harry Potter series have been buzzing with anticipation over the upcoming TV adaptation, and finally, some exciting updates have been revealed.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod, known for their work on Succession, announced at the Max Showcase in London that filming for the new series is scheduled to begin in mid-2025 at the renowned Leavesden Studios in the UK. This studio, famous for hosting the original Harry Potter films, promises to bring an authentic touch to the new show.

One of the most eagerly awaited aspects of the series is the casting of Harry Potter himself. Gardiner and Mylod shared that an impressive 32,000 video auditions have been received for the lead role. The production team is diligently reviewing each submission, with Mylod noting that they are watching up to 1,000 videos every day. Making final casting decisions is no easy task, as they aim to follow in the footsteps of the beloved original cast of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson.

In addition to the casting news, Gardiner and Mylod revealed that adapting the seven Harry Potter books into a TV series provides an opportunity to delve deeper into the rich world created by J.K. Rowling. Unlike the films, which condensed the story into just a couple of hours, the series will allow for a more thorough exploration of the characters and plot.

With production gearing up to commence, Harry Potter enthusiasts can look forward to returning to the magical world of Hogwarts, most likely debuting on HBO’s Max streaming service in 2026 or 2027. Exciting times lie ahead for fans of the Wizarding World!
