Shōgun Leads Critics Choice Awards Nominations, Abbott Elementary and The Diplomat also Recognized
The Critics Choice Awards 2025 TV nominations are in, and Shōgun is leading the pack with an impressive six nods. Hot on its heels are other fan-favorite shows like Abbott Elementary, Disclaimer, Hacks, The Penguin, The Diplomat, and the final season of What We Do in the Shadows, each with four nominations.
While Shōgun is taking the lead with six nominations, there are eight other shows with three nods each, making the competition fierce. Netflix is ahead in the network race with 23 nominations, closely followed by HBO|Max with 21, FX with Hulu at 20, and Apple TV+ scoring 12 nods.
Mark your calendars for December 12th when the film categories’ nominations will be revealed, and the ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 12, at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. E! will broadcast the awards live.
With a whopping 18 Emmy wins from 25 nominations, Shōgun has been the talk of the town this year, seemingly set to continue its winning streak at the Critics Choice Awards. The show is a top contender in the Best Drama Series category, up against tough competition like The Diplomat, The Day of the Jackal, Evil, Industry, Interview with the Vampire, The Old Man, and Slow Horses.
Furthermore, the talented cast of Shōgun has earned well-deserved nods, with Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai leading the pack, alongside Tadanobu Asano, Takehiro Hira, and Moeka Hoshi.
In the Best Comedy Series category, Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and What We Do in the Shadows are in the running, alongside English Teacher, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, and Somebody Somewhere.
