Peacock’s ‘Bel-Air’ to end after fourth season
can’t wait to see how the story unfolds!
After a rollercoaster third season filled with dramatic twists like a teen drug overdose, a chaotic wedding, and a surprise pregnancy, the cast of Bel-Air took to social media to announce that the show will return for its fourth and final season on Peacock. The exact premiere date remains a mystery in the ever-changing world of streaming, so we’ll have to stay tuned.
I have to admit, when Bel-Air first hit the screens in 2022, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this modern take on the iconic ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Seeing Will (played brilliantly by West Philadelphia’s own Jabari Banks) with a smartphone, rocking out to Freeway’s “What We Do,” and navigating social media felt like a departure from the original series. But it didn’t take long for me to be won over. The dynamic relationships between Will, his cousin Carlton (played by Oli Sholotan), a beefed-up Uncle Phil (portrayed by Adrian Holmes), and the enigmatic butler Geoffrey (brought to life by Jimmy Akingbola) brought a fresh spin to the story.
Bel-Air made a splash from the start, becoming Peacock’s most-watched original premiere in 2022 and continuing to impress with its second season in February 2023, which became the platform’s most popular sophomore series. The show was quickly renewed for a third season in March 2023 and now, just three months after leaving us hanging with some major cliffhangers, we’ve learned that season four is on its way, promising eight new episodes.
If you’re a fan of the original sitcom, you might catch some nods and surprises along the way, adding an extra layer of nostalgia to the mix. I, for one, can’t wait to see how the story unfolds in the final season of Bel-Air!
