A new limited drama series based on the shocking Indiana adoption story involving Natalia Grace is set to premiere on Hulu. The series, previously known as “Untitled Orphan Project,” has been officially named “Good American Family.”

The show will follow the story of Kristine and Michael Barnett, who were accused of abandoning their adopted daughter Natalia, claiming that she was actually an adult with dwarfism posing as a child. Ellen Pompeo, known for her role in “Grey’s Anatomy,” stars as Kristine Barnett in the series.

The Barnetts made headlines when they allegedly left Natalia alone in a Lafayette apartment while the rest of the family moved to Canada. The couple had adopted Natalia in 2010, believing she was 6 years old and diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder affecting her spine and resulting in short stature.

The series will consist of eight episodes and features an impressive cast, including Ellen Pompeo as Kristine Barnett, Mark Duplass as Michael Barnett, Imogen Faith Reid as Natalia Grace, and others. Indianapolis native comedian Mike Epps is also involved in producing the project.

Filming for the series took place in Santa Clarita, California, earlier this year. Viewers can catch the series on Hulu and Disney+, with an expected release date in 2025 as part of a Disney+ sizzle reel promoting upcoming shows.

For those eager to learn more about the Natalia Grace case, a docuseries titled “The Curious Case Of Natalia Grace” is set to release its third season in January 2025 on Investigation Discovery. It looks like there will be plenty of content to dive into surrounding this intriguing and controversial adoption story.
