The third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls just premiered, and co-showrunner Justin Noble shared his vision for the new season of the popular Max dramedy.

Noble, who co-created the series with Mindy Kaling and also leads the show, recently discussed his aspirations for the upcoming episodes. He highlighted the importance of exploring the unique experience of sophomore year in college and how it differs from the girls’ freshman year.

“Sophomore year is such an intriguing time in the college journey,” Noble explained. “You go from being a clueless freshman who needs a ride home from the mall with your parents to feeling like a full-blown adult facing the harsh realities of life. Then, in sophomore year, you still go through a similar transformation, but this time with a different perspective because you feel like an expert on college life. It’s like, ‘I know the ropes around here.’ It’s interesting how just six months can make a difference in how you see things compared to the incoming freshmen.”

In addition to this introspective exploration, Noble expressed excitement about introducing interactions with underclassmen to expand the show’s universe.

“It’s exciting to watch our characters connect with the younger students. It’s all about broadening the horizons of the show,” said Noble. “In college, you start with a tight-knit group, but as you grow more comfortable, you venture into new clubs, meet more people, and your world expands. We’re beginning to see this shift in the first episode of the season. Of course, we also have some loose ends to tie up from the previous season and some new faces to introduce. It’s all about building connections with new characters and exploring new dynamics.”
