After their recent successful team-up in the film “Wolfs,” Brad Pitt and George Clooney won’t be returning for a sequel. Despite being a hit on Apple TV+, the streaming service’s decision to opt for a streaming release instead of a wide theatrical release caused director Jon Watts to call off the sequel.

Watts expressed his surprise at Apple’s last-minute change in plans, which led him to lose trust in them as a creative partner. He returned the money they gave him for the sequel, stating that he didn’t want to generate any negative publicity for the film.

Although representatives for Watts, Pitt, Clooney, and Apple TV+ have not responded to requests for comment, it’s clear that there were some disagreements about the release strategy for “Wolfs.”

During the Venice Film Festival premiere of “Wolfs,” Clooney addressed rumors about paychecks and release plans for the movie. He mentioned that he and Pitt had given back portions of their salaries after a deal for a theatrical release fell through.

Despite the setbacks, Clooney emphasized that they were all navigating the challenges of the post-COVID entertainment industry together. He mentioned that they were grateful for any release the film would have and acknowledged that the situation was disappointing overall.

Clooney also reflected on the decision to return a part of their salaries to ensure a theatrical release, emphasizing that it was a way to support that format and not always a popular choice in the industry.

In the end, while the initial collaboration between Pitt and Clooney in “Wolfs” was a success, it seems that creative differences and distribution challenges have led to the cancellation of the sequel. The entertainment industry can be unpredictable, but it’s all part of the journey for these iconic actors.
