Disney+ Launches Global "Top 10 Today" Content Recommendations

Disney+ has launched a new feature called "Top 10 Today," which highlights the most popular content on the streaming platform in each country or territory on a daily basis. This initiative aims to enhance subscriber engagement and assist users in discovering new shows and movies available on Disney+.

Similar to content recommendation rankings utilized by other streaming services like Netflix, Max, Paramount+, Peacock, and Apple TV+, the "Top 10 Today" collection on Disney+ will showcase the trending content within its on-demand library. It takes into account the content accessible based on the user’s subscription plan, including additional services like Hulu for bundle subscribers, and adjusts based on the user’s profile settings, such as content preferences and ratings.

Each day, the "Top 10 Today" list will feature ten different series and films that are currently popular among Disney+ subscribers in their respective regions. For series, the engagement level is evaluated at the episode level, providing users with insight into the latest episodes available for viewing. The selection process considers various factors like total views at the episode and movie level within a day, as well as the increasing popularity of recently released titles during that period. Notably, the "Top 10 Today" feature is not accessible on Junior Mode profiles.

This new content recommendation system on Disney+ aims to offer users a curated selection of popular and trending content, making it easier for subscribers to explore and enjoy the diverse range of shows and movies available on the platform.
