New Seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, All Stars, and Untucked Ordered by MTV and Paramount+

MTV and Paramount+ have recently announced the renewal of several hit shows from the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise. Following the success of RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars and the franchise’s 10 Emmy(R) Award Nominations, fans can look forward to new seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is set to return for its 17th season on MTV after a highly successful year. The season 16 finale, which saw Nymphia Wind crowned as America’s Next Drag Superstar, marked the highest-rated episode of Drag Race in over a decade. The show’s after-show, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, which has won an Emmy(R) Award, will also be making a comeback.

In addition to the renewal of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Paramount+ has greenlit a new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. The previous season featured a charity format, with Angeria Paris VanMicheals earning a spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame” and a generous donation of $200,000 to the National Black Justice Coalition. Notable guest appearances, including Vice President Kamala Harris, emphasized the importance of voting. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked will also be returning alongside the main show.

RuPaul, already the most decorated person of color in Emmy(R) history, received his ninth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program this year. The show itself garnered eight nominations, including categories like Reality Competition Program, Directing, Casting, Production Design, Sound Mixing, Picture Editing, and Outstanding Choreography. RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked also received nods for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Picture Editing.

The show’s commitment to supporting drag performers has been evident in its partnership with the ACLU’s Drag Defense Fund, which raised over $2 million this year. Viewers were encouraged to donate via a QR code at the end of each episode, contributing to the fund’s efforts in advocating for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in the face of anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ attacks.

Fans can catch the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars exclusively on Paramount+ on August 16, featuring twelve fan favorites from around the world competing for the title of “Queen of the Mothertucking World,” a cash prize of $200,000, and a spot in the International Pavilion at the Drag Race Hall of Fame. Additionally, a special marathon of season 16 will be available for streaming on Paramount+ and Logo.
