Peacock announces price increase for subscribers
Peacock, the popular video streaming service, has announced a price increase for its subscribers. Effective July 18, customers will see a $2 raise in their monthly subscription fees for both Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus, now priced at $8 and $14, respectively.
In addition to the monthly increase, annual plans for Peacock Premium and Premium Plus will also see a rise in prices. The annual Premium package will now cost $80, up from $60, while the Premium Plus plan will be priced at $140, up from $120.
New subscribers signing up for Peacock will be subject to the updated pricing, while existing subscribers will maintain their current rates until their next billing cycle on August 17, 2024, as stated on the Peacock website.
This recent price adjustment is the second increase implemented by Peacock within a year. In August 2023, the ad-supported Peacock subscription rose from $4.99 to $5.99, and the ad-free option increased from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, according to reports.
The timing of this price hike coincides with Peacock’s upcoming streaming events, including coverage of the Paris Olympics this summer and an exclusive NFL game scheduled to stream from São Paulo, Brazil, on September 6. These offerings aim to provide subscribers with a diverse range of content to enjoy.
The announcement of the price adjustment was initially made in May, giving subscribers time to prepare for the upcoming changes. Despite the increase in subscription fees, Peacock continues to offer a variety of entertainment options, including live sports events and exclusive programming.
As Peacock moves forward with its pricing adjustments, subscribers can expect the streaming service to continue expanding its content offerings and providing a platform for viewers to access a wide array of entertainment options.
