Travis Kelce Explains Why He’s Rejecting ‘Receiver’ Role and Stepping Away from the Limelight
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently disclosed that he declined an offer from streaming giant Netflix to star in a documentary series titled ‘Receiver’. This decision comes amidst a surge in sports documentaries and reality TV shows, exemplified by Netflix’s Drive to Survive, which chronicles multiple Formula 1 seasons.
Kelce expressed his disinterest in participating in such a program, stating, “After [Patrick Mahomes] did [Quarterback], I did get asked about it. I just, I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything. I’m way over the reality s–t, dude. I’m out on that s–t.”
The show featuring Mahomes documented the 2022 NFL season and included appearances from notable figures like Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. While Receiver boasts a lineup of prominent names, Kelce has opted out, which may come as a setback for Netflix given his well-publicized relationship with pop sensation Taylor Swift.
Kelce’s involvement with Swift has seen him extensively traveling to attend her Eras Tour shows, potentially limiting his availability for additional commitments. Notable players set to feature in Receiver include Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions. Additionally, San Francisco 49ers teammates George Kittle and Deebo Samuel are slated to make appearances in the series.
