‘Popular Anime Series ‘One Piece’ Casts Three New Actors for Season 2′

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the popular manga and anime series “One Piece” is gearing up for its second season with the addition of three new cast members. Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray, and Clive Russell are set to join the ensemble, portraying key allies of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates.

Coetser and Murray, known for their roles in “Warrior” and “Raised by Wolves,” will take on the characters of Dorry and Brogy, the captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates in the source material. Meanwhile, Clive Russell, recognized for his role in “Game of Thrones,” will embody the character of Crocus, a knowledgeable doctor and lighthouse keeper.

These new additions to the cast will join previously announced newcomers Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, Jazzara Jaslyn, and David Dastmalchian, who are set to portray members of the Baroque Works criminal organization. Returning for the second season are series regulars Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar.

The first season of “One Piece” premiered in August 2023 and quickly became Netflix’s top series for the latter part of the year based on viewing figures. The show’s success led to a swift renewal for a second season, announced just two weeks after its debut.

Season two of “One Piece” will be helmed by co-showrunners and executive producers Matt Owens and Joe Tracz. Owens, who previously held the same role in the first season alongside Steven Maeda, will continue in his executive producer capacity, while Tracz brings his experience from working on the first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” at Disney+. The series is executive produced by “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, and Chris Symes.

The expansion of the cast with these talented actors promises to bring new depth and excitement to the world of “One Piece” as the series continues to captivate audiences with its adventurous storytelling and beloved characters.
