Josh Berry Hits Bird at 190 MPH during Talladega Race
Talladega, Alabama, became the unfortunate stage for an unexpected encounter between a bird and NASCAR driver Josh Berry. Berry, behind the wheel of his Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Ford, was zooming around the track at a whopping 190 MPH during the Jack Links 500 when, on lap 18, a bird found itself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The collision was so intense that fans watching from the driver cam on HBO MAX could see it unfold in real-time.
After the incident, Berry had to make an unplanned pit stop during the first caution period due to a crash involving Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, and Kyle Busch. Not only did his car need a fuel top-up, but cleanup was also required to remove bird remnants from the vehicle. Fortunately, despite the unusual pit stop, Berry’s Ford did not sustain any significant damage, allowing him to get back on the track and continue competing at Talladega.
It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Berry clinched his first victory and secured the Wood Brothers’ 101st win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, showcasing his skill and determination on the race track.
