Comcast’s Peacock Platform Reaches 41 Million Subscribers
Comcast’s streaming platform, Peacock, has been making waves in the streaming world, gaining an impressive 41 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2025, a significant jump from the previous quarter’s 36 million fans. This uptick in subscriber numbers has been reflected in Comcast’s overall revenues, which came in at $29.8 billion for the first quarter.
The media unit of Comcast, which includes NBCUniversal and Peacock, saw a solid 1% increase in revenue, totaling $6.44 billion. Additionally, Universal film studios saw a 3% increase in revenue to $2.83 billion, driven by the success of movies like Kung Fu Panda 4 and digital sales of Wicked.
Peacock has been a big contributor to Comcast’s success, with the streamer experiencing a 16% increase in revenue. The quarterly loss for Peacock also saw a significant improvement, narrowing down to $215 million compared to $639 million in the same quarter the previous year.
While Comcast’s domestic broadband revenue saw growth, up 1.7% to $6.56 billion, they did experience a loss of 199,000 total domestic broadband customers. This decline in customer numbers is attributed to the increased competition in the home internet market, with emerging options like 5G providing alternatives.
Comcast CEO, Brian Roberts emphasized the company’s financial discipline amidst a challenging media landscape. He expressed confidence in Comcast’s ability to adapt to change and seize future opportunities, leveraging their strong business foundation, capital allocation strategy, and free cash flow generation. It’s clear that Comcast is focused on navigating the evolving media environment and staying ahead of the game.
