Tom Hanks Greyhound Sequel to Begin Filming Early Next Year

Tom Hanks’ World War II film “Greyhound” was a hit on Apple TV+, and now a sequel is officially in the works! Due to begin filming in Sydney, Australia in January 2026, Tom Hanks will reprise his role as Captain Krause and has even written the screenplay. Director Aaron Schneider and producer Gary Goetzman are also returning for this exciting project under Hanks’ Playtone company.

According to Deadline, the sequel will continue the story of Captain Krause and the crew of the Greyhound from Normandy to the Pacific Ocean. While casting details haven’t been announced yet, talks are ongoing with actors from the first film, including Stephen Graham. “Greyhound” is inspired by true events from the Battle of the Atlantic, providing an action-packed look at World War II.

Initially set for a theatrical release, “Greyhound” found a new home on Apple TV+ due to pandemic-related theater closures. Tom Hanks expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the film with audiences, despite the change in plans. Apple TV+ has become a platform for quality content, ensuring that viewers can still enjoy movies like “Greyhound” from the comfort of their homes.
