Star Trek and SpongeBob Crossover Ad Goes Viral
Paramount+ has released a quirky new ad that combines two of its top IPs: the USS Enterprise crew from “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and the residents of Bikini Bottom from “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
In the ad, Captain Christopher Pike takes control of the “Patrick Starship Enterprise,” which is a spaceship shaped like a big starfish. Spock and Sandy Cheeks gaze at the stars together, while Uhura and Mr. Krabs work on the controls that have been turned into a grill for Krabby Patties. The ad ends with SpongeBob, aka SpongeRobert, beaming aboard the ship, only to reveal that it was all Uhura’s strange dream.
This unlikely crossover was likely born out of the fact that both “Star Trek” and “SpongeBob” are extremely popular franchises for Paramount. The ad features interactions between the characters from both shows, and the cast members expressed their excitement about the collaboration.
SpongeBob’s voice actor, Tom Kenny, shared his excitement about seeing SpongeBob visit the USS Enterprise and interact with the “Strange New Worlds” cast. Similarly, Celia Rose Gooding, who plays Uhura, expressed her enthusiasm for blending the worlds of SpongeBob and Star Trek, joking about whether the food replicator on the Enterprise can make Krabby Patties.
The “SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” is set to premiere on December 19, 2025, while the third season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” will debut in the summer. Both franchises can be enjoyed exclusively on Paramount+.
