US Vice-President JD Vance and Family Shopping at Janpath: Everything You Need to Know

The Vice President of the United States, J D Vance, along with his Indian-origin wife Usha and their three children, kicked off their India trip at the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi this Monday. Their kids, all decked out in Indian clothing, stole the show with eight-year-old Ewan and five-year-old Vivek sporting yellow and grey kurtas, while three-year-old Mirabel rocked a teal green outfit with a jacket.

In the temple guest book, Vance expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, praising the meticulous construction of the temple and sharing that their kids had a blast. Post-temple visit, the family graciously posed for cameras and received gifts like a carved wooden elephant and children’s books.

Later, they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence and explored the temple’s intricate art and architecture. The Akshardham Temple, dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, is a marvel inaugurated in 2005, showcasing Indian culture.

Their next stop was the Central Cottage Industries Emporium at Janpath, where they went shopping for a variety of items including tea, honey, paper mache toys, coaster sets, wooden peacocks, an Ashoka Pillar model, and a brass bowl. The emporium, established in 1952, aims to preserve India’s craft heritage.

During their visit, VIP movement led to traffic snarls in parts of the capital city, causing delays for commuters in various locations. Despite the hustle and bustle, the Vance family seemed to have a fantastic time exploring the rich cultural tapestry of India during their visit.
