“Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri to Star in New Apple TV+ Comedy: Prodigies”
Apple TV+ has just announced a new seven-episode comedy called “Prodigies,” starring Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri. Will Sharpe has won both BAFTA and SAG Awards for his work on “The White Lotus” and “A Real Pain,” while Ayo Edebiri has taken home Emmy and SAG Awards for “The Bear” and “After the Hunt.”
The show, created, written, and directed by Sharpe, will be produced by the Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning SISTER. Edebiri will also serve as an executive producer on the series.
“Prodigies” offers a unique take on the classic romantic comedy genre by focusing on Didi (played by Edebiri) and Ren (played by Sharpe), two former child prodigies who have been together since they were kids. Now in their early 30s, they are questioning whether their ordinary lives are living up to the extraordinary promise of their childhood. This series challenges the traditional notion that a romantic story ends when the heroes get together, arguing that, in reality, that’s just the beginning.
Sharpe, along with Edebiri, will serve as executive producers on the show alongside award-winning producers Jane Featherstone, Naomi De Pear, and Katie Carpenter for SISTER.
“Prodigies” promises to explore the universal complexities of long-term relationships through the lens of this unique couple. With Sharpe and Edebiri at the helm, this comedy is sure to bring a fresh perspective to the screen.
