Prime Video Cancels 2 Shows After Being Put on Hold
Prime Video recently made the tough call to cancel two highly-anticipated shows, Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny, after putting their second seasons on hold. These spin-offs, part of the spy thriller franchise Citadel, initially premiered in late 2024.
Although fans were disappointed by the sudden cancellation, Vernon Sanders, the head of TV at Amazon MGM Studios, reassured viewers that the second season plotlines of both spin-offs will be integrated into the upcoming second season of the main series, Citadel.
The first season of Citadel, directed by The Russo Brothers, known for their work on Marvel, drew attention as one of the most expensive TV series ever created. With a production cost exceeding $300 million, the show aimed to rival James Bond, a property that Prime Video now owns. Many speculated whether a second season would even happen.
Sanders shared with THR that Season 2 of Citadel will be action-packed and thrilling, promising high-stakes storytelling and exciting new cast members. The season is set to explore the emotional journeys of fan-favorite characters against the formidable force of Manticore. Citadel Season 2 is expected to premiere globally in Q2 of 2026.
As viewers anticipate this upcoming season, it’s likely that it will be the final installment of the series. Stay tuned for more updates on Citadel and other Prime Video productions.
