On April 16, a special screening of the new Prime Video adult animated series, “#1 Happy Family USA,” took place at the Metrograph, and it was quite the event. Co-creator and cast member Ramy Youssef was there, along with cast members Alia Shawkat, Timothy Olyphant, Chris Redd, Salma Hindy, Randa Jarrar, Whitmer Thomas, and Paul Elia. Executive Producer Mona Chalabi and co-creator and co-showrunner Pam Brady, known for her work on “South Park,” also joined in on the fun.

“#1 Happy Family USA” follows the Hussein family as they navigate suburban life post-9/11, dealing with Islamophobia and shifting political circumstances. The show finds a unique balance between tough subjects and comedy, making for a truly engaging and entertaining watch. Ultimately, it’s a coming-of-age story, focusing on the life of Rumi (Youssef).

After the screening, guests were treated to a themed photo booth and delicious food and beverages, including light bites from “Hussein Hussein’s Halal Cart” and cookies inspired by the family’s pet lamb, “Lamby.” If you’re eager to dive into this intriguing series, you’re in luck – “#1 Happy Family USA” is now available to stream on Prime Video.
