Top Stars Morgan Freeman and John Cusack Shine in Hit Hulu Thriller

It’s always a bit disheartening to see a celebrated filmmaker’s career take a downturn. Bruce Beresford, a two-time Academy Award nominee with an impressive resume, is no exception. From directing beloved classics like “Driving Miss Daisy” to transitioning into psychological thrillers like “Silent Fall” and “Double Jeopardy,” Beresford’s career trajectory has been interesting, to say the least.

One film that has recently resurfaced on Hulu is “The Contract,” a forest-bound thriller directed by Beresford. Starring the talented duo of Morgan Freeman and John Cusack, the film tells the story of an ex-lawman and his young son who encounter a dangerous contract killer while on a hiking trip.

Despite the star-studded cast, “The Contract” failed to make a mark when it was released in 2006. Critics were unimpressed, and audiences were nowhere to be found. It’s surprising, considering the potential of a thriller featuring actors of such caliber. Even today, the film holds a dismal 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with only a handful of reviews.

But here’s the thing — “The Contract” is actually a pretty entertaining watch. It may not have received the recognition it deserved back then, but thanks to Hulu, it’s finding a new audience. It’s a good reminder that sometimes, great films slip through the cracks and are rediscovered later on.

So, have you watched “The Contract”? If not, maybe it’s time to give it a chance. Let me know your thoughts over on Twitter @Chadiscoll. Who knows, you might just discover a hidden gem!
