Streaming Ratings March 17: Netflix’s Adolescence Claims Top Spot

The latest one-shot crime drama from Netflix, Adolescence, created quite a buzz and managed to snag the top spot on Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of March 17. Netflix didn’t stop there, as they also claimed the second spot with their new original drama, The Residence. It was a tough competition with only three Netflix titles making it to the Top 10, and one of them sharing streaming rights with Hulu.

Adolescence racked up an impressive 1.442 billion viewing minutes during that week, joining the elite club of titles that crossed the billion-minute mark. The show, which follows the story of a 13-year-old arrested for a schoolgirl’s murder, resonated well with the Adults 35-64 demographic, with Hispanic viewers making up a significant portion at 26%.

Following closely behind was The Residence with 1.355 billion viewing minutes at No. 2, and Disney’s Moana 2, the previous week’s champion, landing in third place with 1.129 billion minutes viewed on Disney+. Prime Video’s Reacher took the fourth spot with 1.097 billion minutes viewed, marking the last title with over a billion viewing minutes for the week.

On the other end of the chart, we had Disney+’s Bluey at No. 6, accumulating 975 million viewing minutes, and Max’s The White Lotus at No. 7 with 973 million minutes viewed. Hulu made its second appearance with Family Guy re-airs at No. 8, earning 919 million minutes viewed.

Peacock secured the ninth spot with Wicked, pulling in 905 million minutes viewed, while AppleTV+’s Severance closed out the chart with 876 million viewing minutes.

It was an eventful week in the world of streaming entertainment, with some familiar favorites and exciting new entries making their mark on the charts. Looks like viewers had plenty of quality content to binge-watch!
