Pacific Rim TV Series Lands at Prime Video: Who Will Return?
is set to be a prequel to the Pacific Rim films, has officially found its home on Amazon’s streaming platform. This announcement comes after the series was initially teased last year, and now fans can look forward to diving deeper into the world of Jaegers and Kaiju.
The series will be a collaboration between Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios, known for their work on popular series such as Reacher, Fallout, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and The Boys. Eric Heisserer, the talented writer behind acclaimed projects like Arrival and Shadow and Bone, will be taking the reins as the writer and executive producer of this Pacific Rim prequel series.
For those unfamiliar with the Pacific Rim universe, it all started with Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 film, where humans used massive robots called Jaegers to combat monstrous creatures known as Kaiju emerging from the Anteverse. The story continued in 2018 with Pacific Rim Uprising, directed by Steven S. DeKnight. The TV series is expected to expand on this rich and action-packed mythology.
While details about the series are still scarce, there’s a possibility that familiar faces from the films might return. Charlie Hunnam, who portrayed Raleigh Becket in the original Pacific Rim, expressed his willingness to reprise his role under the guidance of Guillermo del Toro. Additionally, John Boyega, who starred in Pacific Rim Uprising, hinted at the potential for future exploration of the Kaiju world in a third installment.
Although a Pacific Rim 3 film was not realized, the series could pave the way for further expansion of the franchise by exploring new dimensions and multiverses within the world of Jaegers and Kaiju. It’s an exciting time for fans of the series and newcomers alike as they prepare to witness the epic battles and captivating storylines that await in the Pacific Rim TV series on Amazon Prime Video.
