Martin, the author behind the beloved Song of Ice and Fire series, is currently hard at work on the highly anticipated sixth book, The Winds of Winter. Martin has shared that progress on The Winds of Winter is moving along, but he wishes it could be faster.

With the immense success of Game of Thrones, Martin has become a household name in the literary world, leading to various opportunities and commitments. In a recent interview with TIME, Martin mentioned that The Winds of Winter is 13 years behind schedule due to these other obligations, including deadlines for HBO shows. It’s widely speculated that these shows are related to the Game of Thrones spinoff series that HBO has in the works.

While Martin has been involved in consulting on these spinoffs, his mention of working on a “screenplay” has sparked speculation that he may be writing an episode for one of the upcoming shows. Considering his past involvement in writing scripts for the early seasons of Game of Thrones, this possibility has intrigued many fans.

Although details are scarce, fans can’t help but wonder which of the potential spinoff series Martin might be contributing to. With projects like House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and a rumored show about Aegon the Conqueror in the pipeline, the possibilities are exciting.
