Steph Curry’s Limited Screen Time in Film Debut
Steph Curry’s latest project, the mockumentary series Mr. Throwback on Peacock, didn’t quite get the viewership it needed, so sadly, it got the ax after just one season. The show marked Curry’s acting debut and was the first scripted, live-action series from his Unanimous Media production company.
Despite the cancellation, Mr. Throwback garnered a positive response from viewers and critics alike. With an 86 percent rating among TV critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 80 percent rating from audiences, the show seemed to strike a chord with many. Even though some critics felt it didn’t fully capture Curry’s charm, the show still had its moments.
The series, totaling just six episodes, showcased Curry playing a light-hearted version of himself, alongside the talented Adam Pally as Danny Grossman. While Curry might not be trading in his NBA titles and MVP awards for Emmys and Oscars anytime soon, his performance was solid, fitting the role naturally.
It’s always disappointing to see a show with potential get cut short, but maybe there’s hope for Mr. Throwback in the future. Hopefully, Curry will get another shot at entertaining audiences with his on-screen presence in a project that sticks around longer than a few NBA games.
