Ego Nwodim Comedy ‘Mr. Throwback’ Cancelled by Peacock
Ego Nwodim’s show “Mr. Throwback” on Peacock has been canceled, so her schedule at NBC will be a bit lighter now. The show, where she starred alongside Adam Pally and NBA player Stephen Curry, has not been renewed for a second season. In the show, Nwodim played Kimberly Gregg, who was based on Curry’s real-life COO, Tiffany Williams.
The entire first season, with six episodes, was released all at once in August, and the pilot episode got a proper television broadcast later on NBC. It aired on the Thursday night comedy lineup and attracted an audience of 1.67 million viewers based on Neilsen ratings.
Unfortunately, “Mr. Throwback” wasn’t picked up for another season, along with another Peacock series called “Based on a True Story.” Peacock’s original programming has slowed down in recent years, with only a few multi-season series. For this year, the streamer only has two original comedies lined up to return: “Poker Face” and “Twisted Metal.” The series adaptation of “Ted” has been renewed for a second season, but we’re still waiting on a release date.
Outside of her Peacock show, Nwodim has been busy finishing her seventh season on “Saturday Night Live.” She hasn’t publicly mentioned her plans for the next season, but she’s been doing some other TV work, like voicing characters in Netflix’s “Good Times” reboot and appearing as a guest on “Poker Face.”
