New Hit Series: Gardening Hitman Falls in Love on Netflix

If you love stories about hitmen experiencing unexpected emotions, Netflix has you covered with their latest series. Released in 2024, Richard Linklater’s Hit Man was a hit, and now the streaming giant has dropped a new Spanish show called The Gardener.

The Gardener follows the story of Elmer, played by Álvaro Rico, a hitman who becomes emotionally distant after a car accident. He starts working at his mother’s garden center, which is a front for her less-than-legal murder-for-hire business. Elmer is great at his job until he falls in love with Violeta, a preschool teacher who happens to be his next target.

Created by Miguel Sáez Carral and co-written with Isa Sánchez, The Gardener quickly climbed to the #3 spot on Netflix’s Top TV 10 Shows in the US after its release. Unfortunately, the reviews have been mixed, with some critics finding the series a bit predictable and absurd.

All six episodes of The Gardener are available to stream on Netflix as of April 11, 2025. So if you’re in the mood for a unique blend of romance and hitman action, this show might be worth checking out.
