Leslie Odom Jr. to Reprise Role of Aaron Burr in “Hamilton” on Broadway this Fall

Leslie Odom Jr. is making a comeback to the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” this fall, reuniting with his Tony-winning role as Aaron Burr for the first time in nearly ten years. The Philadelphia native, who hails from East Oak Lane and graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, will be gracing the stage as Burr from September 9 through November 23. The timing couldn’t be better as “Hamilton” is marking its 10-year anniversary on Broadway.

You can catch Odom’s limited show run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre starting this September. Tickets for his reprisal as the enigmatic Aaron Burr can be found online. The actor shared his excitement about returning to the production, calling it a “deeply meaningful homecoming,” especially during this special anniversary period. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to revisit this life-changing and impactful musical.

Based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton and created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Hamilton” tells the captivating story of the “$10 founding father without a father,” narrating his journey from an orphan immigrant to becoming George Washington’s right-hand man and the first United States Secretary of the Treasury. As the musical explores themes of ambition, love, and rivalry, the audience witnesses Hamilton’s tragic end at the hands of Aaron Burr, his rival turned foe.

Odom initially portrayed Burr during the off-Broadway production of “Hamilton” before transitioning to the original Broadway cast. Alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hamilton, Odom showcased a mesmerizing performance that led to accolades including a Tony Award and a Grammy Award for his portrayal. He was also Emmy-nominated for a recording of a 2016 “Hamilton” performance that premiered on Disney+ in 2020.

While “Hamilton” has captivated audiences on Broadway and during tours, including a recent stop at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, Leslie Odom Jr. will be making his Broadway comeback in this iconic role. Don’t miss this chance to witness his magnetic performance once again.
