“Born Again Star proposes Spider-Man crossover in Daredevil project”
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have long wished for a crossover between Daredevil and Spider-Man, two superheroes both based in New York. While it may not be happening soon, Michael Gandolfini, known for his role in Daredevil: Born Again, shared his vision of how Spider-Man could be integrated into the Disney+ show.
Gandolfini, the son of James Gandolfini, stars in Daredevil: Born Again as Daniel Blake, a character unique to the series who serves on Wilson Fisk’s mayoral team. He recently moved up to Deputy Mayor for Communications in New York City.
In an interview with Inverse, Gandolfini mentioned the excitement among MCU fans to see Spider-Man make an appearance on the set of Born Again. Half-jokingly, he suggested, “Can we get Spider-Man meeting me on the Staten Island Ferry or something,” referencing a scene from Spider-Man: Homecoming where the web-slinger intervenes on a ferry filled with criminals.
Apart from Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, the first season of Born Again introduced only three other superheroes: White Tiger, Punisher, and Swordsman, portrayed by Kamar de los Reyes, Jon Bernthal, and Tony Dalton. However, hints of other heroes like Ms. Marvel and even Spider-Man have been dropped, including a mention by Fisk earlier in the season.
The synopsis of Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again outlines the clash between Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with special abilities, and Wilson Fisk, a former mob boss turned politician in New York City. As Season 2 of the series is currently in production, not many details have been revealed, but leaked set photos suggest a significant role for Mayor Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force.
Unlike most Disney+ MCU shows, Daredevil: Born Again is confirmed to have a second season, with production underway. Though the plot for Season 2 remains a mystery, it seems Mayor Fisk’s task force will be central to the storyline. The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, one less than initially planned by Marvel.
Fans can catch the Season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ on April 15, 2025, with Season 2 scheduled for an early 2026 premiere.
